I’ve been a professional writer for decades, starting as a journalist, moving on to become an Editor in one of Rupert’s publishing companies, then working in P.R. (as well as being a theatrical agent, published poet, venue booker, band manager and pro. tennis coach) before settling into a career in advertising and database marketing.
I’ve worked for mainstream multi-national ad. agencies like McCann Erickson and Monahan Dayman Adams and learned the unique principles and writing techniques of direct marketing at Ogilvy & Mather. Holding positions from Head of Copy to Creative Director, in agency life I’ve won multiple awards for writing (both domestic and international) and also taught Copywriting & Concept Development to tertiary students.
At one time or another I’ve helped to sell everything from art to anti-depressants; theme parks to thermal underwear; and toys to tick treatment for cattle... but I’m now more selective, aiming to attract clients working in areas about which I’m passionate, or those trying to make a positive difference to the world.
